  1. DEFINITION OF SHAREWARE   
  2. -----------------------   
  3. Shareware distribution gives users a chance to try software   
  4. before buying it. If you try a Shareware program and continue   
  5. using it, you are expected to register. Individual programs   
  6. differ on details -- some request registration while others   
  7. require it, some specify a maximum trial period. With   
  8. registration, you get anything from the simple right to continue  
  9. using the software to an updated program with printed manual.

  11. Copyright laws apply to both Shareware and commercial software,   
  12. and the copyright holder retains all rights, with a few specific  
  13. exceptions as stated below. Shareware authors are accomplished   
  14. programmers, just like commercial authors, and the programs are   
  15. of comparable quality. (In both cases, there are good programs   
  16. and bad ones!) The main difference is in the method of   
  17. distribution. The author specifically grants the right to copy   
  18. and distribute the software, either to all and sundry or to a   
  19. specific group. For example, some authors require written   
  20. permission before a commercial disk vendor may copy their   
  21. Shareware.

  23. Shareware is a distribution method, not a type of software. You   
  24. should find software that suits your needs and pocketbook,   
  25. whether it's commercial or Shareware. The Shareware system makes  
  26. fitting your needs easier, because you can try before you buy.   
  27. And because the overhead is low, prices are low also. Shareware   
  28. has the ultimate money-back guarantee -- if you don't use the   
  29. product, you don't pay for it.

  32. REGISTRATION AGREEMENT
  33. ----------------------   
  34. CAD Vantage is a "shareware program" and is provided at no charge 
  35. to the user for evaluation.  Feel free to share it with your 
  36. friends, but please do not give it away altered or as part of 
  37. another system.  The essence of "user-supported" software is to 
  38. provide personal computer users with quality software without high
  39. prices, and yet to provide incentive for programmers to continue 
  40. to develop new products.  This is not free software, if you 
  41. continue to use CAD Vantage after a reasonable trial period, you 
  42. MUST make a registration payment of $25.00 to Gamma Software or 
  43. discontinue use.  In order for Gamma Software to be able to 
  44. continue developing this product we must receive support from 
  45. those people who use it.  We receive no portion of any fees paid 
  46. to shareware distributors.

  48. If you do not continue to use the program, but would like to offer
  49. suggestions for future changes/enhancements to the program that   
  50. would make it useful to you then send them to the address below.  
  51. If any of your suggestions are implemented and you would like to  
  52. be notified when they are made then indicate such and also include
  53. your address or Compuserve ID.

  55. The $25.00 registration fee will license one copy for use on any 
  56. one computer at any one time.

  58. Commercial users of CAD Vantage must register and pay for their 
  59. copies of CAD Vantage within 30 days of first use or their license
  60. is withdrawn.  Site-Licenses available.  Call for details.

  62. CAD Vantage cannot be distributed for any kind of remuneration.   
  63. See the file VENDOR.TXT for distribution requirements.

  65. You are encouraged to pass a copy of CAD Vantage along to your
  66. friends for evaluation.  Please encourage them to register their  
  67. copy if they find that they can use it.

  70. HOW TO REGISTER
  71. ---------------   
  72. When you execute the shareware version of the CAD Vantage program 
  73. a shareware registration screen is displayed at the beginning of  
  74. the program.  This screen describes the registration policy and   
  75. at the bottom of the screen are two buttons.  Press the TAB key   
  76. to highlight the "Register" option and press Enter or click the   
  77. register button with the mouse.  Then fill in the information on 
  78. the registration menu and select the "Print" button (make sure 
  79. your printer is on and on-line).  Select the "Continue" button to 
  80. exit.

  82. If you prefer you can print the registration invoice directly by  
  83. typing the following command:    
  84.    "PRINT REGISTER.TXT"   
  85. at a DOS prompt (while in the CAD Vantage directory).  Or you can 
  86. highlight the file REGISTER.TXT in the file manager and select    
  87. "Print" from the "File" menu.  Then fill in the invoice.
